Box jellyfish

See? I told you I would post about the box jellies. I just didn’t know it would be the very next post. See, I’m really busy like, all the time and I don’t always have time to tell the world about the amazing things nature has to show to us. Anyway, I’m back with the Box jelly fish.

I have special thanks for Doctor Jamie Seymour in unlocking the secrets of these marine stingers. He has made this possible for me to teach you. I love reading about strange creatures and learning more. I hope you do to.

Quick facts

  • the box jellyfish’s diet consists of fish and shrimp.
  • They are able to propel themselves at about 5 miles per hour.
  • They instinctively sink to the bottom of the sea to avoid the leatherback sea turtle; it’s mortal enemy.
  • It has twenty four eyes. Cool huh?

One more thing on this instinct business. It has no brain. I still don’t know how they do it. It’s amazing.

Oh, and one more thing. if you get stung, please do NOT use vinegar. It eases the pain but it causes the stingers to inject venom which causes fatal problems especially with the brain and heart. The best treatment is CPR before the doctors take over. And also, please obey the signs if the beach is closed to swimming. Well that was today’s lesson. So, go places, see things, and MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
